Georgia brings me to my second friend from "The Untouchables", Judi.
She is another wonderful woman that I have known for years, yet have never met in person until today. And, you know what? It sure didn't feel like a "first meeting" at all! She greeted me at the bus with a WELCOME sign and told me about some of the people she met while waiting for the bus to arrive. She chatted with a grandpa and his grandson and eased their fears of the "sketchy" people by sharing some of the tales of characters I've met so far.
And, even though the ride from Montgomery to La Grange was only two hours, I enjoyed talking to the lady in the seat next to me. She was a grandmother (3 daughters, 10 grandkids!) who lives in TX and was on her way to North Carolina to visit her oldest daughter and think about moving there.
After hugs and pictures at the station, Judi took me to her favorite lunch spot in Newnan. The Brickhouse Grille and Tavern serves up a mean Fried Green Tomato BLT and Ginger, the barkeep, mixes up a mighty fine Bahama Mama.
The next stop was Judi's lovely home where I climbed on the ARC trainer (cross between elliptical and stair climber) and burned up a couple hundred calories. *whew* Then I sat in her kitchen and listened to her stories while she fixed dinner for me.
She spent years in the Rock and Roll industry with her first husband as they moved all over the country. Then her second husband came along and they bought a house and farm in North Carolina. After he passed away, she moved here to be closer to her daughter. Of course, the daughter ended up moving to Tennessee, but Judi decided to stay here. She taught piano in her home until some serious health issues took a toll on her, but she is now on the road to recovery and strength with daily workouts and healthy eating. She's considering another move in the near future, but hasn't decided on exactly where, yet. Yes, we are Sisters in the Wanderlust.
This morning gave me time to repair a rip in my backpack and then it was off to a nearby Farmer's Market and picnic at a lake before getting back on the bus for my next stop....
